WOLF x DOWN pull out of Edge Fest due to ties to Neo-Nazis

Published on October 14th, 2011

Ruhr, Germany’s WOLF x DOWN have cancelled their appearance at the Best, NL Edge Fest, scheduled to take place this October 22nd. The band has released a statement, excerpted below:

As it became apparent that the co-promoter of this year’s EDGE FEST in Best, NL and owner of the new clothing company Xlions roarX, “Terror Tom“, is the well-known neo-Nazi [Thomas V.], we’re NOT gonna play EDGE FEST on oct.22.

In response, Thomas V of Xlions roarX, the event promoter, has released a statement. Part of the statement is presented below, with the entirety posted on the Xlions roarX Facebook page:

Just ask yourself this: why would a “nazi” book all these left wing bands? Why would a “nazi” have all these foreign and left wing friends he hangs out with on a daily basis? Why would a “nazi” get rid of his right wing tattoo’s? It is my past and unfortunately I can’t get rid of my past. If I could, I would within an instant.

I really am disappointed that nobody who found out about my past ever came to me. Instead of asking the guy involved, they immediately started their little phony internet war, without checking the information first. Some parts are unfortunately true, but most of it is made up. These people are just as tolerant as the people their fighting, they just measure with different standards.

Xlions roarX have since announced that they will be pulling out of Edge Fest. The full statement can be read on the Xlions roarX Facebook page:

Due to all the commotion around the past of xLions Roarx´s founder Terror Tom, we have voluntarily decided to pull out of Edge Fest, for the sake of the festival. Edge Fest will still take place, but we won´t be any part of it.

Here’s our full statement, and furthermore you can read a bunch of comments on that issue on our facebook page.

As it became apparent that the co-promoter of this year’s EDGE FEST in Best, NL and owner of the new clothing company Xlions roarX, “Terror Tom”, is the well-known neo-Nazi Thomas Valkhoff, we’re NOT gonna play EDGE FEST on oct.22.

Thomas Valkhoff played in diverse nazi-bands, most recently he played bass in a german band called Oidoxie and set up nazi-concerts before. In 2009 he became the leader of the Flanders nazi-terror-organisation “Blood & Honour-Combat 18″ where it came up to power plays. His comrades tried to kill him which was the reason for him to drop out.

To safe the festival and to fool the other promoters – who are just minor kids – he claims not being a nazi anymore because he’s not organised like in the past. So he wants to convince people of the contrary to rescue EDGE FEST as he spent a lot of money in advance. As he is still listening to nazi-music, wearing clothes of different nazi-brands and
is still in touch with other neo-nazis, it shows that he never dropped out completely and still has a way back.

Comments on facebook make clear that some of his comrades are coming to the show and local antifascists assume that a bunch of nazis from the “Blood & Honour” section (who according to reports are very interested in straight edge) could appear at EDGE FEST.

We are really angry and disappointed about that. It’s clear for us, that we will NOT PLAY this show and some other bands already came to the same conclusion.

If you bought a pre-sale ticket we encourage you to claim your ticket-money back
and please feel free to repost this statement and help to spread it on the web.

Hardcore is, was and will always be anti-fascist!
    No infiltration through neo-nazis!

Let’s stand together against racism and hate!

xLions Roarx official statement concerning politics within xLions Roarx and Edge Fest

Since there have been rumors about political views of xLions Roarx employees and around Edge Fest, here is our official statement.

xLions Roarx and Edge Fest is in no way linked to any political view or activity. We’re an a-political company who are only about straight edge hardcore. Nothing more, nothing less. To spell this out for you; we’re not into racism, fascism, homophobia, pro-life, sexism, communism, etc.

Having this said, the same goes for the festival Edge Fest and any other festival we’re going to organize in the future.

Now about the accusations of our CEO of xLions Roarx Terror Tom in his own words:

“Unfortunately I have to say that yes, in the past when I was a kid I did attend a few demonstrations (both left wing and right wing) and a few nationalist concerts. In that time a drank a lot and wasn’t taking good care of myself. I quit drinking and found I was surrounded by fucking morons and didn’t wanted to be amongst those people anymore.

This clearly concerns MY PAST, I am having my tattoo I have on the back of my neck removed, which I can prove to you if needed. My other tattoo’s are being altered, so they don’t represent what they used to.

It goes without saying that I hate to talk about my past, so therefore I didn’t mention this before. I have many left wing- and foreign friends and still a few friends who are considered “right wing”, but the right wing movement clearly hates my guts for leaving them. They also consider me as a traitor and an informer. The band Wold X Down now claims that I’m still active in the movement I left years ago. I can assure you that this is a complete lie. They say I listen to the same music (how would they know) and that because people were trying to kill me, I quit the scene. It took at least three months before people in the right wing scene started calling me a traitor and an informer, when they realized I wasn’t coming back.

Please let me know if any of you have any additional questions you would like to know, I’ll be happy to answer them.

    Regards XXX

…and that concludes our official statement. For any questions, mail or PM us; we’ll be happy to answer all your questions.

xLions Roarx’s official statement concerning the withdraw of participation in Edge Fest 2011

Due to all the commotion around the past of xLions Roarx´s founder Terror Tom, we have voluntarily decided to pull out of Edge Fest, for the sake of the festival. Edge Fest will still take place, but we won´t be any part of it.

As mentioned before, we don´t agree with the way Wolf X Down and BGdu57 tried to kill Edge Fest in total and Wolf X Down even made death threats to the kids from Sober Minds Events. This was the first festival for Terror Tom in this scene and as proof he left the other scene for good, but now we will have to postpone this “coming out”. Of course we understand that if the lies would have been true and he still was a member of this other scene, he should have been banned; but this is certainly not the case.

We will continue with what we were doing and we would like to apologize to everybody who became victim of this hateful act Wolf X Down and BGdu57 have committed.

    We’ll see you soon!
