Casey Jones at Hard Luck Bar, Toronto, ON, Jan 15, 2012

In the words of Josh James, lead singer of Casey Jones, on Sunday night the Hard Luck bar had the good fortune of hosting the very first, and very last, Casey Jones show in Toronto.

Without sadness, without remorse, the Casey Jones farewell tour rolled into town and left a room full of straight edge kids, both young and old, energized, invigorated, and adorned in grey heather CJ hoodies with fluroescent orange print.

Following high energy sets by Uplift, No Bragging Rights, Hundredth, and Death Before Dishonor, including a few digs from Death Before Dishonor singer Bryan, Casey Jones closed out the night. The band tore through a set that mixed oldies like If You’re Smoking In Here You Better Be On Fire, with new tracks like Butthash from their recent I Hope We’re Not the Last. We sang along, we moshed, we piled on, we two-stepped, and left feeling the wait had been worthwhile. Following the set, the band stuck around to talk with those stragglers not concerned about waking up for work the next day.

Well boys, we too hope you’re not the last.

Casey Jones are now on tour; final dates are posted here, and members of the band will continue to be active in both Evergreen Terrace and Boys No Good.
