Adam Bevel and his band Arkham are dipping their toe in the controversy pool with the release of a new shirt targeting the Westboro Baptist Church. Proceeds from the shirt will be used to support a local homeless shelter for LGBT youth.

From the band:

On our first tour we snapped a picture of two of our members kissing in front of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church. It got a lot of attention and there were a lot of requests that we make a shirt out of it.

While we dug the idea didn’t feel comfortable making personal profit of the very real and urgent problem of LGBT oppression. We have decided to print the shirts now, with 100% of the profits going to El Rescate, a Non-Profit Homeless Shelter in Chicago for LGBT youths. The shirts will be $20, which we know is is a little more expensive than we usually go, but its just to cover cost and give a significant contribution.

We will only be printing the number of shirts that are ordered so if you want one, please order one immediately and please share this around.

The new shirt can be reserved through the Arkham merch store. In the meantime, the Chicago band’s new single can be heard through Bandcamp.
